Understanding little ones and the ones who raise them

Child development, parenting & everyday life with children ages 0–5

A LETTER FROM DIA

Hi, I’m Dia.

Dia Borromeo smiling outdoors

I’m really glad you’re here. I wanted to introduce myself and share a little about how this blog came to be.

My work with children began in preschool classrooms and grew into working with children and families in therapeutic settings, supporting skill building, and leading parenting workshops and seminars. Through that work and my continued education, I became increasingly interested in how children experience the world and how the adults caring for them make sense of it all.

One thing that stayed with me was how much parents are expected to figure out on their own. Parenting doesn’t come with a handbook, and finding useful information or someone to ask isn’t always easy. Help can be expensive, knowing where to look can be confusing, and sometimes you simply have a question and would appreciate a straightforward answer.

That’s what led me to start this blog. There’s so much to talk about in the early years, from play and friendships to big feelings and those everyday moments that leave you wondering, “Where did that come from?” I’m interested in what children communicate through their behavior and how our own experiences growing up influence what we expect from them. You’ll find those conversations here, along with activities, worksheets, and free workshops.

Keeping these resources free matters to me. I’ve seen how cost can stand between families and the support they need, and I want you to be able to use what’s here whenever it’s helpful. If a post helps you understand something your child is doing or an activity gives you a new way to enjoy time together, that’s exactly what I’m hoping for.

I’d love for you to be part of the conversation, too. Leave a comment, send a question, or tell me what you’d like to see on the blog. You don’t have to know exactly how to ask. “This keeps happening, and I don’t know what to make of it” is a good place to start.

Thanks for spending a little of your day here. I hope you find something useful, and I look forward to hearing from you.

With care,
Dia
